We're right in the middle of autumn now, a time of change. Everything is transforming around us- the leaves are changing colour, the plants are in differing changes of their life cycles, animals are preparing for hibernation and the upcoming cold weather. I have certainly noticed my cat, Dozey, is getting thicker fur.
It's something that's also echoed in our lives outside of nature- this past month, we would have seen our kids and siblings going to school, starting a new year- or even the next stage of education. My baby sister- in-law started primary school this term, in fact- a big step from part-time reception class last year.
In fact, this particular autumn has been filled with even more changes for my family, which is precisely the reason why I wanted to write this post, however short or long it might be. Both my husband and I started new jobs this very week, within a day of each other- him moving up the career ladder and me changing jobs entirely (from a placeholder pay-the-bills-just-barely gig to something that will lead somewhere). I also started at university recently as well.
Even bigger than that, my sister had her baby today- a beautiful baby girl! Certainly a big time of change for the family.
So a question to all my readers out there- is anyone else noticing how the turning of the wheel has shown itself in your life? Have you noticed how different parts of the year have brought different influences into your life?
Interestingly, I have found that the autumn time, for me, has been a time of renewal, new beginnings. At a time where nature is retiring and preparing for the spring. But perhaps it's something ingrained in us from a young age? After all, we start school in September (if you live in the UK anyway!) and that would be something that would become an automatic association. September or October equals a new start for a lot of us. At the same time, we are also letting go of something. We are letting go of what existed before- our old school term, our old job, a life before a child is brought into the world. After all, we can't move to the next stage without letting go of the past.
Blessings,
Shanti
